Ireland’s Minister for Mental Health Launches ‘Navigator’ Signposting Tool to Support the Mental Health and Wellbeing of Young People

Ireland has launched a new digital mental health tool called navigator, designed to support young people aged 14–34 by providing personalised, anonymous, and immediate access to mental health information and services.

Developed by spunout in partnership with the Department of Health and the HSE, the tool responds to growing concerns about stigma, low mental health literacy, and fragmented access to care.

Key Information:

  • Navigator provides a simple, three-step journey to tailored mental health resources based on user needs.

  • The tool is mobile-first, user-friendly, and requires no sign-up or login to use.

  • It includes curated content such as factual articles, videos, lived experience stories, podcasts, books, and expert-approved apps.

  • Users are connected to both local and national services, including 24/7 support via spunout’s Text About It service.

  • Navigator was co-designed with input from nearly 900 young people to ensure it is relatable, relevant, and accessible.

  • Developed in alignment with the National Child and Youth Mental Health Action Plan and supported by a multi-agency steering group.

  • Navigator is intended to serve as a foundation for a national “digital front door” to youth mental health services.
