In this video Christine Morgan, CEO of the National Mental Health Commission of Australia and Chair of eMHIC Board, discusses the importance of establishing a national Digital Mental Health Ecosystem in Australia.

Christine defines a digital mental health ecosystem as “An environment where all digital mental health tools co-exist and support one another, to provide the strongest possible e-mental health support for Australians”

Key points from Christine’s address include:

  • The importance of co-design and the inclusion of lived experience in the design and delivery of the ecosystem.
  • The need for safe, reliable and sustainable implementation including accreditation and integration of services.
  • Establishing frameworks that will ensure the delivery of services of the highest quality and standard of care.
  • How the National Safety and Quality Digital Mental Health Standards, which aim to improve the quality of digital mental health service provision, and to protect service users and their support people from harm, will inform the development of the ecosystem.
  • Using the eMHIC Position Statement on Ethics and Law as Essential to eMental Health as a critical starting point and to guide future directions in eMental Health that are ethical, informed by lived experience, and respectful of international law.
