AI in the Room: A Free Practical Course for Therapists

More and more people are turning to general-purpose AI tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini for mental health support, but there is still relatively little practical guidance to help therapists bring these conversations into the therapy room.

AI in the Room is a free course from A Hopeful Space, created by founder Davy De Geeter, who is also Head of Partnerships at Wysa and Digital Lead for Alliance Psychological Services. Drawing on his clinical and digital experience, Davy developed the course to give therapists an accessible and practical starting point for talking with clients about their use of AI.

The course:

  • Walks you through the data on how general-purpose AI is being used for mental health support
  • Explores the different types of support people are seeking and what therapists should look out for
  • Shows how to open the conversation, with practical sentences that can be used immediately
  • Provides guidance on documenting AI use in clinical notes
  • Includes case studies to practise with

The course is completely free, with no registration required, and Davy plans to continue updating the resource as new data becomes available and feedback is received from people using it.
