Description

Founded by Dr Fahima Mustanzid, CMCF-CTS promotes community wellbeing through digital tools, neuro-educational workshops, talk shows, and cultural self-expression, strengthening parental resilience while addressing mental health service gaps.

Implementation Status

Scaling implementation

We deliver routine neuro-educational community workshops and virtual international awareness programs, and are actively scaling the Single Parenting App globally alongside collaborative research validation and clinical partnerships.

Target Population

Single Parents

Vulnerable single mothers and fathers needing accessible mental health support and digital resources.

Immigrant Families

Ethnoculturally diverse parents and youth seeking culturally responsive mental health and relationship education.

Neurodivergent Youth

Children with sensory, focus, and developmental needs.

Community & Families

Local parents and children building emotional intelligence, STEM literacy, social cohesion, and cultural identity expression.

Impact & Outcomes

January 2022 – June 2026
We plan to measure outcomes through Single Parenting App user analytics (active engagement, self-reported stress/resilience scales), feedback surveys from library/YMCA workshop participants, and clinical verification of our neuro-educational modules in partnership with university researchers.

Planning to create a one-stop platform solution to improve mental health accessibility with local health service agencies through projects.

Dr Fahima Mustanzid received the Calgary Single Mothers Society’s Mental Health & Wellness Trailblazer Award (March 2026) for her exceptional dedication to create platform for delivering accessible support and advocacy to single-parent families.

Calgary Single Mothers Society (Award Presenter)

The Raising Girls & Raising Boys program was a lifesaver. Having a free, culturally responsive workshop that addresses healthy relationships, body image, and puberty in an inclusive environment helped our family immensely.

Initiative Overview

The Current Gap

Immigrant, single-parent, and neurodivergent families face severe systemic, linguistic, and financial barriers when attempting to access mental healthcare. Traditional clinical solutions are often culturally homogeneous, prohibitively expensive, and lack preventative frameworks. Additionally, the rapid introduction of digital technologies and AI platforms has created an educational vacuum, leaving parents without evidence-based guidance on managing digital well-being, early childhood cognitive risks, or emotional regulation. This gap leaves marginalised populations isolated, widening socioeconomic divides, and fracturing community social cohesion.

Founded in 2022 by Dr Fahima Mustanzid, CTS has rapidly grown into a prominent regional advocate and has earned the 2026 Mental Health Trailblazer Award. To scale this impact, Dr Fahima founded the Creative Mind Community Foundation (CMCF) in 2026 as a dedicated nonprofit organisation.

CMCF focuses specifically on expanding access to youth mental health services, improving family well-being, and collaborating directly with legislative and public health bodies across Alberta. This evolution allows us to transition seamlessly from local community workshops to structural, policy-level healthcare advocacy.

Our Solution

The collaborative CMCF-CTS initiative dismantles societal stigma around mental health through a dual-delivery framework. Its digital pillar—the Single Parenting App—bypasses social judgment by offering an accessible, future-facing model of individual and family psychological care. Concurrently, its physical pillar normalises mental wellness by embedding neuro-educational workshops, public library literacy programs, and academic talk shows directly into civic spaces.

By synthesising large-scale community milestones, such as YMCA cultural ceremonies and global livestreamed art therapies, the initiative leverages creative self-expression to supplant social isolation with collective pride. This unified ecosystem successfully fosters systemic parental resilience, cultivates universal well-being, and transitions localised psychological interventions into structural, policy-aligned advocacy frameworks.

Key Learnings

Our primary challenge lies in bridging the language and cultural divides that prevent vulnerable immigrant families from seeking mental healthcare. Translating scientific concepts—such as neuroscience, AI development risks, and relationship education—into culturally responsive and trusted frameworks requires significant co-design time.

Additionally, securing sustainable, long-term funding for completely free community workshops and digital app maintenance remains an ongoing challenge.

Navigating trust-building within insular ethnocultural groups and coordinating collaborations across diverse sectors (such as public libraries, academic institutions, and sexuality resource centres) also demands high-touch community coordination.
First, prioritise co-design: always adapt programs in collaboration with trusted community representatives to ensure cultural safety and linguistic relevance.

Second, integrate low-barrier technology: digital tools like our parenting app must be paired with in-person community touchpoints to build trust and high-retention engagement.

Third, leverage cross-sector partnerships: collaborating with established civic hubs like public libraries and YMCAs eliminates administrative overhead and makes programs instantly accessible to the families who need them most.
Mental wellness and digital health are borderless challenges. Partnering with international bodies such as eMHIC, researchers at the University of Edinburgh, and academic experts across Canada enables CTS to integrate global, evidence-based practices into local designs.

Conversely, sharing our localised ethnocultural adaptations on the global stage helps international developers build highly responsive digital solutions.

International collaboration ensures that our technological innovations, such as the Single Parenting App, are validated against top clinical standards while remaining deeply rooted in compassionate, community-level realities.

Looking Ahead

Our immediate steps include launching the fully validated Single Parenting App across major mobile app stores, accompanied by bilingual localised resource directories. We are also preparing a major conference on youth resilience and digital well-being in February, bringing together policymakers, clinicians, and researchers to share insights.

Under the newly founded Creative Mind Community Foundation, we plan to formalise our clinical research partnerships with the University of Alberta to publish peer-reviewed outcome studies on our community neuro-education modules.
We have opportunities to build full functional single parenting App (designed by Aronnok Roddur)
Our comprehensive programming includes global live-broadcast masterclasses (e.g., “How Nutrition Fuels Emotional Intelligence” with clinical psychologists and naturopathic doctors) and unique sensory-motor development workshops for neurodivergent youth.

All public-facing community events, such as library programs and in-person theatre performances, are designed as safe, low-barrier entry points that actively reduce clinical stigma and invite families to explore their cognitive and emotional development comfortably.
