The researchers deployed across 54 sites and 27 partner organizations province-wide, including community sites, schools, primary care networks, and third-party providers, with a total of 1,058 youth and young adults engaged and 624 clients (users) having been onboarded onto the Innowell platform.

Measurements in mental health care have historically been lacking in comparison to other medical disciplines. Routine measures are important for both clinicians and patients to track the evolution of mental health outcomes, personalize treatment, and coordinate care across providers. The fragmentation for youth across schools, primary care, and community services is problematic and it forces them to repeat their story at every encounter.
Across Canada, there has been a significant increase in youth emergency department visits for mental health and suicide attempts increased, which are important indicators suggesting an immediate response to identify and respond to need early.
Youth were engaged and their voice was heard throughout the process via lived-experience leads, co-researchers, and youth-led events. Clinical outcome data, including emergency department utilization, hospitalizations, and cost-effectiveness as well as quantitative results will be released in the next few months.
Innowell, the measurement-based care solution was implemented by the researchers and used across 54 sites and 27 partner organizations.
Used by 624 clients (users) and serving 1058 youth aged 15-24, the platform tracks wellbeing across 20 mental health domains, enabling self-monitoring allowing for coordination for the entire care team (schools, primary care, and community mental health services) with real-time view of progress.
Tracks client wellbeing across standardized mental health domains (e.g., anxiety, social connectedness), providing clinicians with a comprehensive, real-time picture of each situation.
Assessments are distributed, collected, evaluated, and recorded automatically, reducing administrative.
Built-in predictive analytics identify high-risk clients, with automated escalation processes to support timely clinical responses to suicidal thoughts and behaviours.
All members of a client's care team can access the same real-time data, enabling truly coordinated, non-fragmented care.
Clients can track and visualize their own progress over time, fostering autonomy, self-awareness, and active participation in their care plan and therapeutic conversations.
