Dr Piers Gooding is a Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne Law School and Melbourne Social Equity Institute, and an Australian Research Council Early Career Research Fellow. His work focuses on mental health-related law and policy. He is the author of A New Era for Mental Health Law and Policy: Supported Decision-Making and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2017), with Cambridge University Press, and he is on the editorial board of the International Journal for Mental Health and Capacity Law. Dr Gooding has advised the World Psychiatric Association, the UN Special Rapporteur for the Rights of People with Disabilities, the World Health Organisation, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission of the Asia Pacific, and the Council of Europe Bioethics Committee.

Victoria is CEO of Mental Health Innovations, the charity behind SHOUT, the UK’s first 24/7 crisis text service. From 2011 to 2017, she was Director of Programmes at The Royal Foundation, building a portfolio of projects including the Invictus Games, Coach Core, United for Wildlife and Heads Together.
