DIVERT Mental Health, in support of Mitacs, is paving the way for innovative partnerships that bridge the gap between academic research and real-world industry challenges in Canada, particularly in the child and youth mental health field. This initiative supports projects that leverage technology to improve mental health outcomes for traditionally marginalized populations.
The Mitacs program, which links students and postdoctoral fellows with industry and non-profit organizations, offers the perfect platform for fostering these critical collaborations. Through this program, students gain hands-on experience while contributing to projects that have a tangible impact on society. For organizations, it’s a chance to harness academic expertise to address pressing challenges in the mental health sector.
This rolling opportunity allows for up to five applications per year, encouraging early submissions for those eager to be part of a transformative program.
How It Works
- The Match: An intern, a supervising professor, and a partner organization develop a research project.
- The Proposal: Applicants must submit a proposal via a Mitacs representative at their institution.
- The Project: Internships start at four months and can scale up as much as needed.
Funding
To encourage DIVERT trainees (postdoctoral fellows and graduate students) to take advantage of the Mitacs program, DIVERT Mental Health will provide an additional one-time stipend of $2,500 to successful Mitacs applicants to incentivize their engagement with industry and non-profit organizations. This program is only for new Mitacs partnerships with industry and non-profit organizations.
